Welcome To my Blog!

My name is Krista Rose, and I’ve found it easier to go by Rose (especially with spelling and mishearing).

Since I was young I’ve had a passion for learning about animals, and plants and exploring anywhere new. I’ve crossed the country twice, living from Michigan to Florida, to California, to settle in Nevada. Why out west? Because the mountains are beautiful… I always wanted to visit one day- and I met the best man in my life. He happened to live on this side of the country. We finally married in June 2023 after dating for almost 7 years. I very happily am rid of mosquitos (the state bird some might say), and the humidity of Florida.

After 6 years we bought a home. This meant we could finally get chickens! After some deep dive researching on anything chicken, local laws, and restrictions. Some failed attempts, and successes in trying to build a coop. I finally got some chicks! I’m here to share Tips and Tricks, The Dos and Don’ts, and lessons learned along the way with Chickens, Gardening, and General Home Projects. Because oh dear, I’ve learned a lot.

Everything from common chicken misunderstandings to knowing we have been using chickens in our everyday lives as a sustainable practice for thousands of years!
